Biography
Andrew R. Lubin practices primarily in the areas of commercial real estate and commercial finance law. He provides clients with counsel in connection with the wide array of real estate acquisition and disposition, ownership, development, financing and leasing issues.
In connection with his real estate practice, he assists clients in all aspects of retail, commercial, office and industrial properties. Matters include acquisition, financing, leasing (landlord and tenant), management and disposition. Andy heads the firm’s real estate practice group, holding a “Best Law Firms” as Metropolitan Tier 1 rating.
In his commercial finance practice, Andy provides comprehensive legal services to regional and national financial institutions and others. Legal services include structuring, documenting and negotiating numerous types of financing transactions. These transactions include commercial real estate loans, construction loans, asset-based loans, and commercial loans, as well as working-out and restructuring troubled credit. In addition to his traditional lending roll, Andy has developed a subspecialty in closing both SBA 7a and 504 Loans. Andy is one of only a handful of lawyers in the State of Connecticut who have received a “Designated Attorney” certification from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Andy is an elected Fellow of both the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (former Vice Chair, Leasing Subcommittee) and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (currently, Connecticut State Chair). Best Lawyers has listed Andy in the practice area of real estate law since 2001 and also named Andy as “New Haven Real Estate Law Lawyer of the Year” in 2014, 2017, 2020, and 2024. He is included in Connecticut’s Super Lawyers’ Top 50 lawyer list for 2007, 2010, 2016, 2017, and 2018 and both the Connecticut and New England Super Lawyer’s lists have included Attorney Lubin on their rosters since inception. He is also listed in Chambers USA and Who’s Who Legal (WWL).
Andy is an elected Fellow of The Connecticut Bar Foundation and American Bar Foundation. He is also a current Executive Committee member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Real Property Section (Chair 1997 – 1999). As well, Andy is the founder and current member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Commercial Finance Section (Chair 1999 – 2000). He is a member of the Real Estate Committee of the New Haven County Bar Association (NHCBA). And he is a former member of the NHCBA Board of Governors. Andy is a member of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. In addition, he serves on a number of municipal and nonprofit boards. He lectures frequently on various real estate related topics.
Andy received his B.A. from Clark University and his law degree from the John Marshall Law School, with distinction.
