Gregory J. Pepe Presents on ERISA: The Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (December 6, 2017) – Gregory J. Pepe, founding principal with the law firm of Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C. recently presented, “What’s ERISA All About Anyway?” at the American Society of Medical Association Counsel (ASMAC) fall conference.

In his presentation, Attorney Pepe began with an overview of ERISA, a federal statute governing employee benefit programs. Enacted in 1974 after years of congressional debate, it was originally supposed to regulate retirement programs. He noted that most of the litigation in recent years has been centered on the application of this law to health benefit programs. Attorney Pepe’s presentation provided the essential elements of ERISA for those who do not deal with it frequently, but for whom knowledge of ERISA is important.

Attorney Pepe heads the Healthcare Law, Corporate & Business Transactions, and Alternative Dispute Resolution & Mediation practice groups. His experience in the healthcare market, its accompanying regulatory constructs and related business matters provides his clients the understanding necessary to navigate the changing healthcare landscape.

Attorney Pepe is a founder and the former President of the Board of Directors of Leeway, Inc., a not-forprofit inpatient facility for people living with AIDS. He is an adjunct faculty member of Health Care Law and member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee at the Quinnipiac University School of Law. Attorney Pepe is a professional advisor for The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and has recently been appointed to their Board of Directors, assuming the position this January. He is also the Board President of The Institute Library in New Haven.
