Barbara Pearce and Joseph Mooney Join Connecticut Hospice as Interim CEO and COO/CFO
March 6, 2019NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (March 6, 2019) – Barbara L. Pearce and Joseph W. Mooney have joined Connecticut Hospice, both in interim executive positions. Ms. Pearce joins as interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Ms. Pearce is currently President & CEO of H. Pearce Real Estate and is taking a sabbatical from Pearce Real Estate to devote her time to Connecticut Hospice. Joseph W. Mooney, a business management consultant, joins as interim Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer (COO/CFO).
Barbara Pearce, JD, practiced mergers and acquisitions law before joining H. Pearce Real Estate. Ms. Pearce has been actively involved as a community leader in Connecticut and Greater New Haven. She has chaired the boards of the Hospital of Saint Raphael, Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA), Long Wharf Theatre, United Way of Greater New Haven, Artspace, and the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. Currently, Ms. Pearce serves as Co-chair of Saint Martin de Porres Academy, and as a Trustee of Albertus Magnus College and the Connecticut Health Foundation. Ms. Pearce states, “I feel fortunate to be able to lead an institution that has such a storied past, and a strong sense of mission. I have a family history with Connecticut Hospice that adds additional meaning for me.”
Joseph Mooney, CPA, CGMA, is a seasoned financial executive with over forty years of experience in government and the private sector. He brings a wealth of experience in strategic planning, accounting, taxes, budgeting, internal controls, auditing, and process improvement. Mr. Mooney’s “hands on” approach in both business and government provides a unique perspective to the challenges and opportunities at Connecticut Hospice. As he undertakes this interim role, Mr. Mooney states, “I am honored to join Barbara Pearce, Interim CEO, Anthony “Unk” DaRos, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and all involved with the Connecticut Hospice organization.”
Gregory J. Pepe, a founding partner with the New Haven based law firm Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C., will be working with Ms. Pearce and Mr. Mooney; providing pro bono legal services in support of their work with Connecticut Hospice.
