Defense Verdict in Property Damage Action

Caruthers, counsel with the firm’s insurance defense group, obtained a defendants’ verdict in a recent trial held in the Connecticut Superior Court for the judicial district of New Haven. The case, styled Nyberg-Hendricks v. Matthews, involved interesting issues of property damages, double recovery, settlement, and estoppel. The Hon. Brian T. Fischer issued the court’s decision in favor of the defendants on January 21, 2020. The dispute arose out of a head-on motor vehicle collision that occurred on Route 150 in the Yalesville section of Wallingford, Connecticut.
