Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C. Employees Support Pan-Mass Challenge Ride

August 27, 2015

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (August 27, 2015) – Employees at the New Haven, Connecticut law firm of Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C. are frequent contributors to local and national agencies serving many varied populations and causes. This past month’s “Jeans Day” collection as well as personal online contributions from employees went to a cause that is close to home – the 2015 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) and cancer research. The PMC organization notes that the Pan-Mass Challenge is an annual bikea-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. Since its 1980 inception, the PMC has contributed $455 million to lifesaving cancer research and treatment at DanaFarber Cancer Institute with 100% of every rider-raised dollar donated to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Vimala, Michael & Mason Ruszkowski

Neubert, Pepe & Monteith employees donated in support of rider Michael Ruszkowski, husband of Vimala Ruszkowski, an attorney with Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C. Michael and Vimala’s son, Mason, now 4 years old, is a Stage IV Neuroblastoma Survivor. Neuroblastoma is an aggressive form of pediatric cancer. Diagnosed at the tender age of 18 months, Mason is alive and well in part because of the excellent care he received from Dana Farber Cancer Institute in conjunction with Boston Children’s Hospital. The team Mr. Ruszkowski rides with, Team Brentwheels (in honor of Brent McCreesh, a now eleven year survivor of Stage IV Neuroblastoma), (31 riders for PMC 2015) has raised over $236,000, this year alone. This money will go directly to a trial of the new GVAX vaccine, which will be used to treat Neuroblastoma. Dana-Farber is expected to start trials of the vaccine shortly.

Ms. Ruszkowski states, “For so long we hoped for a time when our own personal circumstance could improve enough for us to be able to concentrate on giving back in some way. I’m so proud of Mike and he and I are so grateful for our son’s continued good health and to be able to be a part of the PMC. As for Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C., their contribution to the PMC through their Jean’s Day and through employees’ personal online donations is no surprise. They are doing what they’ve done for my family and me through this whole process, steadfastly standing by us. I’m ever grateful.”
