Sara E. Mowery is a paralegal in the firm’s Bankruptcy & Creditor Rights and Taxation, Trusts & Estates practice groups. With over twenty years of experience in law, Sara brings an uncompromising attention to detail, an eagerness to work, and a supportive approach to client service.

In providing paralegal support to the firm’s attorneys, Sara’s responsibilities range from drafting estate plans to bankruptcy petitions and schedules.  She administers estates through the probate process, manages Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts, prepares drafts of court filings, and manages departmental calendars to ensure compliance with court mandated deadlines.

In addition to her role as a paralegal, Sara is the firm’s Manager of Professional Development. Her responsibilities include training new non-attorney employees on office policies and procedures, court filing requirements and procedures and applicable software, planning and presenting lunch and learn programs, evaluating law firm software products, providing information to attorneys about CLE requirements and opportunities, and assisting with day to day training issues.

Sara is the consummate student: never hesitant to ask why and always keen to explore.  She returned to school as an adult learner and has since steadily continued her education as a writer.  Currently, she is a Master of Philosophy and Graduate Writing Certificate candidate at Wesleyan University continuing the research on American women writers that she began as a graduate student at Trinity College.  Her thesis and novel explore the intersection of gender and power.

Away from the office, Sara provides a supportive home to girls 16 years and older as a licensed therapeutic foster care provider, and is the devoted guardian of three dachshund mixes, Chili, Remus, and Cleo.  She is a volunteer and foster home provider for Sophia’s Grace Foundation Small Breed Dog Rescue, and a member of the New Haven Museum (New Haven Colony Historical Society), American Historical Association, and Society for the Study of American Women Writers.
